Notice About UnitedHealthcare

UnitedHealthcare (UHC) has terminated its contract with our hospital, medical group and employed providers. If a new agreement is not reached, our hospital, clinics and providers will no longer be in network and participate in commercial and Medicare Advantage plans, effective July 1 for the hospital and July 30 for our clinics and providers.

For the past several weeks, WVMC has been working to establish a new agreement with UHC that protects our patients’ and community’s access to in-network care. Unfortunately, UHC has been unwilling to acknowledge our rising costs and compromise on a fair agreement, instead proposing significant reductions in reimbursement for our services.

This means that our hospital, clinics and providers, will be out-of-network with UHC commercial and Medicare Advantage plans starting July 1 for Willamette Valley Medical Center and July 30 for Willamette Valley Clinics and its providers.

• Patients may continue to access our hospital and providers as an out-of-network provider and should call the phone number on the back of their UHC insurance card to understand their specific benefits.
• Patients who are pregnant, receiving treatment for a special condition or have a procedure scheduled after the termination date may qualify for continuity of care and should call UHC to learn more about their continuity of care benefits.
• Patients with a commercial plan who want to maintain access to in-network care at Willamette Valley Medical Center should encourage their employer to consider an alternative insurance provider and plan. View a list of insurance plans that are in-network with our hospital.
• Patients with a Medicare Advantage plan have the option to switch plans or return to traditional Medicare during open enrollment. View a list of Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans that are in-network with our hospital.

We are deeply concerned about the impact and disruption this change may have on our patients and local employers and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please know we are actively working toward a resolution and will continue to keep our patients and community updated as we move forward.
