Willamette Valley Medical Center Achieves National Status for Patient Safety

McMinnville, OR December 3, 2025 - Willamette Valley Medical Center was awarded an “A” Hospital Safety Grade for the third consecutive time by The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit organization focused on patient safety.

“Willamette Valley Medical Center is proud to be recognized for a third time with this significant achievement that places our hospital among the top in the country for patient safety,” said Dewane Pace, CEO. “This grade reflects the daily efforts of our entire team to deliver care that prioritizes patient safety at every level. I’m grateful to our staff, physicians, board members, and volunteers for their continued focus on doing what’s best for our patients and community.”

The Leapfrog Group assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to all general hospitals across the country based on over 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them

“My sincere congratulations to Willamette Valley Medical Center for upholding patient safety standards through thick and thin, achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade for three consecutive rounds of the Safety Grade,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “Consistently earning an A demonstrates a long-term, organization-wide commitment to putting patient safety first.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program focused exclusively on preventable medical errors, injuries and infections that can lead to harm or even death. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
