2025 Employee of the Year - Carol Keller
January 14, 2026
Employee of the Year - Carol Keller: Not only in December, but every single day, Carol goes above and beyond for our facility and our employees. She consistently puts thought, time and effort into supporting not only her own department, but every department in our facility. This month, she created beautiful cookie platter for each department to spread holiday cheer. For Carol, bringing joy to others is a treat, but having Carol as an employee is the real treat. Her dedication, kindness, and commitment to our team is truly exceptional. We are so fortunate to have her!
Carol was also awarded the BEE award for Q3 - We had a family with the desire to use majorly naturopathic medicine for their newborn. Their naturopath had come to the hospital at 2200 with medication and an unmarked bottle for the parents to administer ‘vitamin k’ drops to the infant. We later learned of this occurrence and intervened to inquire regarding the prescribed supplement. The concern was high on many levels, but most importantly creating a pathway for the infant to receive what they needed for safety.
Carol helped by taking the time to connect with the Naturopath, learning that the drops were actually ineffective at the dose and cadence prescribed. Carol discussed the current recommendations regarding oral drops vs IM administration with the Pediatrician, and together they made a plan to support this family. With education, evidence based information, Carol tackled the problem with kindness, knowledge and the art of a true advocate for what is best for each patient. Due to her prior experience in compounding pharmaceuticals, Carol was able to compound doses for the nurse to administer (following our hospital protocol) while partnering with the Naturopath, Pediatrician and most importantly, the family. The family was so impressed and thankful for the team approach and the kindness expressed by the team while navigating this unique request. Carol, as always, you shine in the area of evidence based sharing of knowledge. This day, you went above and beyond and created a safety net that worked for everyone. Well done.
Carol, your dedication and compassion inspire us all. Congratulations on being our 2025 Employee of the Year—you truly deserve this recognition!
