Willamette Valley Medical Center Enhances Respiratory Care with Advanced New Ventilator Technology
October 27, 2026
Willamette Valley Medical Center (WVMC) has expanded its respiratory care capabilities with the addition of new Hamilton ventilator technology, providing clinicians with advanced tools to support critically ill patients requiring mechanical ventilation.
The investment includes modern ventilators designed to deliver highly individualized respiratory support for adult, youth and pediatric patients. The technology offers ventilation modes, high-flow oxygen therapy, enhanced patient monitoring and improved clinician decision support, helping care teams tailor treatment to the unique needs of each patient.
A key advantage of the new technology is its ability to provide continuous ventilator support during patient transport within the hospital. The Hamilton T1 transport ventilator allows respiratory therapists to maintain consistent mechanical ventilation while patients move between departments for procedures, imaging or higher levels of care.
"This is a significant advancement for both our patients and our respiratory therapy team," said Andrea McCracken, RRT respiratory supervisor. "Previously, transporting certain ventilated patients could require manual ventilation. The Hamilton T1 gives us a dedicated transport ventilation solution that helps ensure seamless respiratory support throughout the patient's journey within our hospital."
The Hamilton platform also includes features designed to support lung-protective ventilation strategies and provide clinicians with real-time patient information to guide care decisions. These capabilities help WVMC's respiratory therapists deliver sophisticated, evidence-based respiratory care while maintaining a focus on patient safety and comfort.
For the respiratory therapy team, the value of the investment extends beyond the equipment itself.
"Mechanical ventilation is never just about the machine," said McCracken. "The technology works alongside the knowledge, assessment and clinical judgment of our respiratory therapists and the entire care team. What makes this investment so meaningful is that it combines the expertise of our clinicians with technology designed to support highly individualized respiratory care."
WVMC's Respiratory Therapy Department plays a vital role in caring for patients with a wide range of breathing and lung conditions, from emergency and critical care to inpatient respiratory support. The addition of this new technology reflects the hospital's ongoing commitment to investing in advanced tools that help improve patient outcomes and support high-quality care close to home.
